Only if the following are true can an EPL_ACCESS card be issued:

The EPL_ACCESS profile replaces the EPL_ADU1FR profile and will be used for adult customers who cannot procure proof of residence and/or appropriate ID as they are experiencing homeless (ie. living in a shelter or at no fixed address).

Privileges:

  • access to all electronic resources
  • access to ILL
  • 1 item limit (no video game or chromebook)

Proof of identity is not required to issue this card but should always be asked. Verbal confirmation of identity and how EPL can contact the customer is sufficient to issue this card. Always check to see if the customer has an existing card in the system before issuing a new card.

Required fields for card creation:

  • First name
  • Last name
  • Date of birth
  • Address OR email address OR phone number

Ensure the customer knows that they can upgrade their borrowing limit if they are able to provide both proof of address and identification in the future.

There is no juvenile equivalent for homeless youth to this card. See the report "Approved Library Card for Internet and Computer Access Only" for more details.
