Exception to checkout - item has holds

When shelf location is HOLDS, item is on hold shelf for another customer.

Do not check item out to customer.

A hold can only be checked out to the card used to place the hold. E.g. Customer brings a hold item to checkout from the self-pickup hold shelf. Item is not on hold for them. Message displays at checkout identifying the proper user.

Shelf location is indicated as holds

Item is currently on hold shelf for customer pick up.

Select Do Not Checkout Item.

Reshelf item on the hold shelf for customer to pick up.

HINT: You can place a request for your current customer on another copy of the item.

Item has holds

An item is presented at checkout with an unfilled hold for the title.

Pickup location for the hold is at current service point

Workflows indicates the name and barcode number of the user who has requested the item.

Override the hold block

Select Override & Checkout Item to continue the checkout transaction.

NOTE: Although the message states that “THIS ITEM IS NOW BEING HELD FOR…” the hold has an unavailable status and has not popped a hold for the other user.

Pickup location for the hold is at a different service point

Workflows indicates the name and barcode number of the user who has requested the item.

Type the override in the hold block override field.

Select Override & Checkout Item.

NOTE: This is the action taken when the book shows location of GENERAL or any other shelf location.

Do not select Do Not Checkout Item.
